This weekend is the final round of the 2015 MCE British Superbike Championship and it takes place at Brands Hatch. If you're a lifelong fan, or even if you're just starting to follow the series, the final round is the event to attend or watch online.

Here's our guide to the BSB Finale.

What is the Showdown?

In 2011, British Superbikes brought in a new rule set to make the end of season a bit closer and more exciting. In the last three rounds, the top six riders - a.k.a. Title Fighters - get their podium results converted to podium credits, their scores reset to 500 and podium credits added on top. The final seven race points are added as normal.

Confused? We don't blame you. What does it mean?

Simply this: if you're in the top six by the end of the ninth round, then you move up into a special end-of-season competition called the Showdown.

Your points from the season are reset to 500 - to separate you from the rest of the field. On top of that, for each race win you've taken you get 5 points, a second place gets you 3 and a third gets 1.

So this means that the end of the season is a lot closer, as the gap between the top six is artificially closer than if the results were the normal race scoring points.

Who is in the Showdown?

Both of Tyco BMW's riders Michael Laverty and Tommy Bridewell are in the Showdown, along with Shane Byrne, John Brookes, James Ellison and Dan Linfoot.

With the points as they stand, only two riders could win: Four-time Champion Shane 'Shakey' Byrne or Josh Brookes, who is leading the championship by over 40 points.

Laverty and Bridwell will be pushing hard to take race wins at the final weekend - and with one race on Saturday and two on Sunday there are plenty of opportunities for amazing stories and podium finishes

What is there to do there?

With three days of on-track action, and racing on two of them, the Brands Hatch circuit in Kent sees the best visitor numbers of the year, with over 50,000 spectators.

Visitors can head in on the day, or camp at the circuit. There's entertainment all day, with manufacturer stands, bike displays, fairground attractions, shops, food and drink outlets and live music and a disco in the evenings.

You can also visit us on the BMW Motorrad UK Event Truck where we'll have a display of the latest BMW bikes and a fantastic test ride competition.
